Dongfeng Motor’s total sales goal for 2012 is set at 3.3 million vehicles. The manufacturer aims to earn 420 billion yuan ($66.64b) in total business returns this year.

2012.07: Dongfeng Motor sold a total of 1.63 million vehicles in the first half of the year, auto.163.com reported today. The sales figure represents year-on-year growth of 8.57 percent for the own brand manufacturer, far above the industry growth average.

Dongfeng sold a total of 1.28 million passenger automobiles during the six month period, growing 17.31 percent from the previous year. Commercial vehicles sales totaled 347,000 units. Dongfeng own brand models constituted 598,000 sales, with 225,600 of those being of passenger automobiles. Sales of its other own brand models, including Dongfeng Yulon Luxgen, Dongfeng Nissan Venucia and Dongfeng Honda Ciimo, totaled 33,900 units.

Dongfeng’s various joint ventures have also performed strongly in the first half of 2012. Six month sales figures from Dongfeng Nissan, Dongfeng Peugeot, Dongfeng Honda and Dongfeng Yueda Kia were 454,800 units, 208,600 units, 150,700 units and 221,100 units, respectively. Respective year-on-year growth rates for the above JVs were 21.69 percent, 7.63 percent, 28.8 percent and 16.45 percent.
