China successfully launched the Long March-5, its largest ever carrier rocket, on Thursday night from the Wenchang launch center. The rocket is expected to become the carrier for the core module of China’s future Tiangong space station, lunar and Mars missions.
Long March 5 is currently maybe the most powerful rocket on earth. The only comparable rocket is Delta 4 of USA. he Long March 5 is capable of lofting 27.6 tons (25 metric tons) to low-Earth orbit (LEO) and 15.4 tons (14 metric tons) to the more distant geostationary transfer orbit, according to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp.
