South East Motor DX7 4×4 SUV designed by Pininfarina
Pininfarina may be best known for designing Ferraris and Maseratis, but it can’t survive on Italian exotics alone. (At least not these days.) Hence the DX7, an SUV designed for Chinese automaker South East Motor and unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show.
Available technical details are few and far between, but we’d be surprised if it had anything other than a four-cylinder engine mated to an automatic transmission and driving all four wheels. The press release below does, however, mention features such as stability control, rollover protection, automatic parking systems, an electric tailgate and a panoramic sunroof.
SEM is good enough, just like BMW, BYD, GMC
And that distinguished Italian designer has been doing it in China since 1996.
SEM is conflicted about its name. It insisted on being “Soueast” for years, confusing all the auto writers, but now appears to have gotten the idea that South East is a little more sensible, and is dropping the contraction.
