北京五一假期首日高速变龟速 首都还是那么堵
今天上午,京藏、京承、京港澳、京开和机场等各条高速公路纷纷迎来了巨大车流。加上连续发生了多起追尾剐蹭的事故,高速路又一次变身“龟速路”。记者从市交管局了解到,城区内,由于受到高速路通行缓慢的影响,北五环、北四环等多条主要环路也发生了严重拥堵。香山植物园一带则因游客太多,造成再次大堵车。
根据官方的估算,小长假中高速路日均车流将达到186万左右,比清明节假期增长8.6%,比去年五一假期增长23.1%。

I would say if there is traffic jam then just enjoy it :)
But 200PK, if the Beijing car could talk it would likely say: My engine is idling for so long it is killing me. I am using far more fuel than I would if I were in cruising mode. And my clutch is giving my driver a sore leg, not to speak of wearing out its plates, so I will soon need a costly repair. These conditions take all the fun out of driving, and replace it with stress. So I’m guessing Beijingers can’t wait for the “self-driving car” to become a reality.
Although I love to drive, under these conditions I’d gladly forgo the independence of a personal car, for the sanity of the subway.
I’m curious to know what the average speed is throughout the day, for traffic within the greater Beijing metropolis.
