Great Wall to build automobile factory in Thailand
(Shanghai March 27) – Great Wall Motor is planning to establish a new factory in Thailand, Xinhua reported today. The news comes from a statement made by Great Wall International Sales Deputy General Manager Wang Shihui made at the floor of the recently opened Bangkok International Motor Show, where Great Wall is showcasing five different Haval SUV models and three engines.
According to Mr. Wang, Great Wall is in the process of further developing in the Thai market. The manufacturer will not only export to the country, but aims to produce vehicles in the country for sale domestically and in neighboring countries. Great Wall is planning to invest 10 billion baht ($341.42m) in developing a new factory. The factory will be designed to manufacture 100,000 vehicles annually. Vehicles manufactured in the site will not only be sold in Thailand, but be exported to other ASEAN countries and as far as Australia.
36 automobile manufacturers and seven motorcycle manufacturers are attending this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show. The show, which is expected to attract a total of 1.9 million viewers, will conclude on April 7.
