Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. (600166: SHA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Cameroonian government to invest USD 500 million to build a factory in Cameroon. The new factory will start operation in July 2013 and will have a production capacity of 5,000 trucks and minibuses.

According to the MOU, in the first stage, auto parts impor ted from China will be assembled; in the second stage, the raw materials from Cameroon will be used.

福田计划投资5亿美元在喀麦隆建厂

中国福田汽车计划在非洲喀麦隆投资5亿美元，建造一座整车厂，明年投入生产运行。

据喀麦隆工业部长11月9日称，福田汽车已经与喀麦隆政府签署了备忘录，该车企将在喀麦隆西南部港口城市克里比（Kribi）投资5亿美元建厂。新工厂将在2013年7月投入生产运行，年产能为5,000辆卡车及面包车，将为当地创造8,000个就业岗位。

根据备忘录声明，第一阶段将组装进口自中国的零部件，第二阶段将采用喀麦隆当地的原材料，主要出产自姆巴拉铁矿（Mbalam iron ore）。
