Ford China sold a total of 49,000 vehicles in May 2012, year-on-year growth of eight percent for the manufacturer.
The sales result is good news for joint venture partner Changan, which has recently been performing poorly. Changan Ford Mazda sold a total of 35,000 vehicles in the month, 23 percent more than last May.
However, Ford’s other partner, Jiangling, was not as fortunate. JMC sales of Ford vehicles totaled 14,000 units, 16 percent less than last May.
Ford China Board Chairman and CEO David Schoch was pleased with the manufacturer’s performance. He specifically mentioned the new Ford Focus. According to Mr. Schoch, the Focus is available in over 400 dealerships across the country. He also confirmed Ford’s intent to introduce 15 new models to the Chinese market by 2015.
Ford has devoted a great deal of energy in expanding its production capacity in China. According to plans, the manufacturer plans to have a total Chinese production capacity of 1.2 million vehicles by 2015.
2017 data: Ford sold 1.19 million cars in China in 2017. Ford sold 6.6 million cars worldwide in 2017. In FY 2017, Michigan-based Ford Motor Company sold around 6.6 million vehicles to customers around the world. Ford Motor delivered more than 1.19 million automobiles in China last year, down 6 percent year on year, according to Ford Motor (China). Changan Ford Automobile sold 826,740 vehicles to Chinese customers in 2017, down 14 percent year on year, while Jiangling Motors Corp. sold 292,942 vehicles last year, up 11 percent from a year earlier. Ford announces major expansion in China production capacity Ford announced its biggest industrial expansion in 50 years, as part of a US$5 billion plan to double production capacity in China by 2015, The Wall Street Journal reported.
