Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey has tried to defuse the rapidly growing fallout over his deleted tweet that showed support for Hong Kong anti-government protesters, saying he did not intend to offend any of the team’s Chinese fans or sponsors.

北京时间10月5日，正在日本(专题)东京举办季前赛的休斯顿(专题)火箭队总经理莫雷发了一条推特，内容竟是几个月来香港(专题)暴动分子们常喊的一句口号。虽然他不久就删除了相关内容，但负面影响已经铸下。

　　针对莫雷的错误言论，火箭队老板费尔蒂塔立刻澄清说莫雷言论不代表火箭队，火箭不是政治组织。如此性质恶劣而严重的言论，不是一句轻飘飘的不代表火箭队就可以搪塞的。更加让人无法接受的是，接着火箭老板进一步表示，他拥有全联盟最好的总经理，他和莫雷一切都好。这是澄清吗？这明明是支持啊！此后，自10月5日上午至10月6日晚，无论是莫雷、火箭队还是NBA官方，都没有对莫雷的错误言论进行任何表态。

　　10月6日，一天时间过去了，在火箭队和NBA官方都没有做出任何表态的情况下，中国各方开始发飙了，除了人民日报、新华社、央视、环球时报等官媒的全面批判外，据中国驻休斯敦总领事馆微信公众号10月6日消息，总领馆对火箭队总经理莫雷日前发表错误涉港言论表示震惊和强烈不满，已经向火箭队提出严正交涉要求该队作出澄清，立即纠正错误，并采取切实措施，消除恶劣影响。

　　同日，中国篮协官方宣布：休斯顿火箭俱乐部总经理莫雷公开发表涉港不当言论。中国篮协对此表示强烈反对，并将暂停与该俱乐部的交流合作事宜。
